As almost every photographer will tell you, the knowledge of how to properly resize images is essential if one wants to maintain the quality of the final product. Luckily, the constant increase in the megapixel size of cameras means that it is easier for us to print the images we take on a larger scale without degrading their quality. It also means that it is much easier to crop images while keeping them sharp. Resizing is easy in Luminar. Try Luminar for Mac today. However, even with more megapixels, sometimes you may have to for printing or publishing to the web. This is especially true for photographers who wish to exhibit their photography in a gallery or upload it to their online portfolios. If you are looking for ways to resize your pictures without losing their quality and sharpness, you can use Adobe’s Photoshop to do so. In this tutorial, we are demonstrating the process of resizing images by using Photoshop CS5. First, Get Familiar with the Tool It is important to understand the various functions that you can use to resize your images with Photoshop. The resizing process is usually done through the Image Size dialog within Photoshop. To launch this dialog, click on Image - Image Size in the top menu bar. You will then see a window like this: Here, you can see various options to resize your imported picture. ![]() As a blogger, I manipulate a lot of photos and images. One of my daily routine consists in resizing some images we use on iDB to either reduce their size or simply make sure they fit right on the site. There are many different ways you can quickly resize several images at once on your Mac. The one I am using is one from a trip to the beautiful valley of Swat in Pakistan. It was taken with the Sony SLT a-58, which is a 20.1 megapixel camera. Let’s take a look at the information this dialog box provides. • Pixel Dimensions This shows the size of the imported file. In this case, you can see that it is 56.7M at the moment. Later, when we resize the image to enlarge it, you will notice how the size increases accordingly. The Pixel Dimensions increase as you increase the quality of the photo you have taken. This particular image has been exported as a JPEG file at the highest settings from a RAW file. If it were a JPEG file straight from the camera, the picture may have been smaller. Similarly, if this were a RAW file, the picture would have been much larger. Underneath this information, you can also see the dimensions in Pixels as the unit. I find that this option is more useful for people who are looking to resize images to be posted on the web. For example, if you know that a certain website allows you to post images of only 600x800 pixels, you can control that from here. • Document Size Here you can see the physical size of the picture you are viewing. In this example, the image can be printed as large as 18”x12” without degradation of quality. You can view this information in other units, such as cm, mm, and points, as well by clicking on the drop-down menu. You can also view the resolution of the image in ‘ppi’ (pixels per inch) here. Increasing or decreasing this number leads to a change in the pixel quality of the image. Now that we have gone over the basics of how the tool used to resize pictures in Photoshop works, let’s see the different ways we can resize a picture without giving up too much of the quality. OK Enlarging a Photo in Photoshop Before making any changes to the imported image, we stress that you make a Duplicate Layer of it first. This can be done by right-clicking on the image layer and selecting Duplicate Layer. Category: Media Players. What's New in Kindle. Kindle Editor's Review Read your favorite eBooks on your Mac or on your PC with some of the best software available on the internet. I've been an eBook advocate since 2002 when I began reading books with. It was one of the best main streamed options at the time, AND it worked well with s, which, in my opinion were the best kind of PDA on the market at the time. (Truth be told, I was never fond of or Blackberries, the other two major mobile choices at the time). Amazon is the king of eBooks, and has been since the modern smartphone came into being after the introduction of the original iPhone back in 2007. Their Kindle hardware was revolutionary Their Kindle software available for any number of smartphones as well as your Windows PC or Mac allows you to read your eBooks where and when you want; and the software, is a total must have. Kindle is a free application that lets you read Kindle eBooks on your Windows PC or on you Mac. Kindle offers most of the features you would find on a Kindle, Kindle DX, or other Kindle applications for computers and mobile devices. The best thing about it is that it allows you to automatically save and sync your last read page and all of your annotations across all your Kindle devices and hardware. You can also browse Amazon's huge eBook library and purchase as well as download and read thousands of books from the Kindle Store. The software interface is customizable. App Pro’s: Free, WhisperSync last page read and annotations across all Kindle devices App Con’s: Hard to get non-Kindle Store books in the app, Won't run on OS X Yosemite Beta 7 or earlier Conclusion: Amazon's Kindle app is, in my opinion, the best eBook reading app available today. It is powered by the Kindle Store, which has the biggest library of eBooks on the internet. The software is device agnostic, meaning you can put the software on just about any computing device you have – PC, Mac, iDevice, Android, Windows Phone, etc. – and it will sync your progress across all devices. Kindle Publisher's Description. I have Vista Movie Maker and want to send the movie to someone so they can go in and edit and send it back. But they only have a MAC. Does anyone know if I can save this file to something that is compatible for MAC? OR is there a site on the web that she and I can share the same movie in different formats (Windows and MAC). ![]() MovieMaker for Mac gives you the tools to make movies from your photos and then share them with your friends through email or Vimeo. You can add entire folders or select photos individually, and then just process them and watch your movie. Pros Quick processing: Once you've added your photos, the Rendering step is very quick. And once it's done, you can view a preview of your movie to make sure everything is in order before you send it off to your friends. Convenient sharing: If you're satisfied with the movie you've made, you can quickly share it straight from the app via the Share features. This includes options to send your video in an email or as an SMS, or to upload it straight to Vimeo. While this is a common feature of most mobile apps, it's not often included in apps for the computer. Cons Lots of bugs: We had difficulty with several aspects of adding photos to the app during testing. The drag-and-drop feature did not work, and sometimes the movie we created only contained the last photo added rather than all of the ones we'd included. Bottom Line MovieMaker is a quick and straightforward way to create stop-action videos from your photos. It does have a lot of bugs, and the free trial version only allows up to 100 photos per movie. The full version costs $4.99, but there is no time limit on the trial, so you'll have plenty of time to see if it fits your needs. Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of MovieMaker for Mac 1.3.1. Make a time lapse movie with just a few clicks using MovieMaker for Mac OS X. If i compose an email from the top level of the email app (ie looking at all my mail boxes) it will default as being sent from my @me address. If i force quit or power off and on my phone and access mail it will go straight in to my icloud inbox, so i have to go back and then in to my gmail. I have 3 email accounts on my phone; icloud, gmail and a work exchange account. Gmail is set as my default. I sometimes forget about this so occasionally send emails out from my @me address when i don't want to. It's a little bit of an annoyance because i never used to have a me account so never had this problem, it always used my gmail account as you'd expect since it is my default. I'll probably try restoring again at some point. This has plagued me since my first iPhone. As best I can tell, no matter what you set as the 'default' email for sending emails from your iPhone, iOS always loads the mail account that was added first when setting up the phone. ![]() Because alot of us have iCloud mailboxes when you set up your phone and sign into iCloud with your apple ID it automatically adds the iCloud email account. Then you add gmail and set to default but if you restart your phone or force quit the mail app it will always show the iCloud account when you go back into the mail app. It is really annoying to me, especially when you utilize the 'All Accounts' feature in the mail app. To get around it I believe you can delete all your mail accounts and re-add them starting with your primary gmail account first and you should have that default from now on. After the upgrade to version 7.25 (around April 2016) of Skype for MacOS, the ability to change the conversation volume in a way independent from the system volume seems to have been removed. To be clear, I am referring to the ability to change a Skype conversation audio volume, while leaving the System volume unchanged, so that System's sounds and other applications sounds stay the same. ![]() In the past versions this was done via two entries in 'Conversations' menu, or via the two keyboard shortcuts cmd-alt-up_arrow and cmd-alt-down_arrow. Is there a way to have that functionality back? The functionality has not been removed, it is only disabled in the default settings. In order to have it back, go to the Preferences, in the Audio/Video panel, and change the 'Speakers' drop down menu from 'Same as System' to 'Built-in Output (Internal Speakers)' (or any other output you have available, I guess). This gives you back the Skype volume adjustment, independent from the System volume. Once you change the preferences, the two extra menu entries will also be back in 'Conversations' menu. I have checked this on Skype version 7.49 (274) under MacOS 10.11.2 (El Capitan). I'm not sure if this will help but try this, 1) Right-Click the speaker in the bottom right hand corner > Then Click playback devices and choose the correct one your using and do the same on the Recording tab. This is so you can hear the game. 2 ) Now open skype > Sign in > then click on the tools on the top tool bar > Then choose the correct microphone for both speakers and Microphone settings. Note the using skype is for the communication not for the game. I hope these steps work correctly if not please get back. Quite easy, do the video call to the person you want to share your screen with. Once he receives your call then on the video calling screen click on the plus icon. Then click on the screen share option. Skype will ask you whether you want to share full screen or just a window. Select your choice.
